The Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership is a community-based, volunteer partnership organization. The group supports grassroots programs to restore Muskegon Lake and the Great Lakes.
The Muskegon Environmental Research & Education Society operates the Muskegon Lake Nature Preserve and serves 700 kids per year with environmental education programming.
The West Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative is a place-based education resource for West Michigan environmental education. They provide curricula, grant funding, and project ideas to connect students with stewardship opportunities.

The Friends of the Detroit River is a watch group for the Detroit River Area of Concern, watching and protecting the river. They provide educational programming and stewardship opportunities with the goal of improving the Detroit River and the quality of life for people, plants, and animals around the river. Friends of the Rouge has been working to promote restoration and stewardship of the Rouge River for 30 years. They do this through education, citizen involvement and other collaborative efforts for the purpose of improving the quality of life for the people, plants, and animals of the watershed.
